The Distillers are a punk rock band formed in 1998. They released their first two albums on Hellcat Records before moving to Sire, part of the Warner Music Group. The Distillers were originally formed by Brody Dalle and the lineup has changed significantly since then. Brody Dalle plays guitar and sings while Tony Bradley plays guitar as well. Ryan Sinn played bass, but left recently, announcing his departure on his MySpace page.
The Distillers play intense, hard punk rock. They tour often and are fairly popular internationally. Brody Dalle has wrote/co-written all the songs on the 3 albums.
Recently, the group has been working on a new album that was supposed to be released in 2005 and has likely been delayed until 2006 [1] as the album is unfinished. Their frontwoman, Brody Dalle has recently given birth to a daughter, Camille Homme, with Queens of the Stone Age frontman Josh Homme.
Brody Dalle (born Bree Leslie Pucilowski on January 1, 1979 in Fitzroy, Melbourne, Australia), is the lead singer-songwriter and guitarist for punk rock band, The Distillers.
Dalle is known for her raspy but powerful voice. "She has a voice like a gravel truck with a broken axle but she never misses a note," Brett Gurewitz once said.
When she was young, she was expelled from four schools and got sent to a Catholic girl's institution. She started a band of her own, Sourpuss, which developed a fanbase following and played alongside Beastie Boys and Sonic Youth at Australia's Somersault Festival. She met Tim Armstrong, the frontman of the punk band Rancid at this festival when she was sixteen. Dalle lied about her age at first then married Armstrong shortly after turning eighteen. She moved from Melbourne to Los Angeles, California and there founded The Distillers.
The Distillers released their self-titled first album in 2000 receiving acclaim and comparisons to Hole. By the time The Distillers came back to the studio for their second album, the band had a complete rehaul and had a new lineup with Dalle. The Distillers sophomore effort was Sing Sing Death House. Their 2003 third release was Coral Fang. That same year they played Lollapalooza.
Dalle and Armstrong divorced in 2003 and Brody reverted to using the surname of her favorite actress Béatrice Dalle of Betty Blue fame.
She is engaged to Queens of the Stone Age frontman Josh Homme. She gave birth to their first child, daughter Camille, on January 17, 2006.
